🛠️ Laplacian Smoothing Kit for Modo

The Laplacian Smoothing Kit for Modo is an open-source plugin designed to deliver advanced mesh smoothing workflows within Modo. Unlike standard smoothing tools which may leave residual noise or fail to preserve fine detail, this kit applies a robust Laplacian smoothing algorithm to efficiently clean up and refine meshes.

This kit contains a direct modeling tool and a procedural mesh operator for macOS and Windows.

✨ Key Features

  • Applies true Laplacian smoothing to selected geometry or full meshes.
  • Able to reduce "surface noise" and irregularities while maintaining mesh fidelity.
  • Intuitive UI: simple controls to adjust smoothing strength, iteration count, and preserve features.
  • Seamlessly integrates into Modo’s workflow — tool plugin and/or procedural operator supported.
  • Ideal for cleaning high-poly meshes, prepping for sculpting, or optimizing for export/render.

⚙️ Installation & Usage

  1. Click Download (set price to $0 or optionally include a tip).
  2. Download the .zip or .lpk file from GitHub or the release page.
  3. Drag & drop the package into Modo and install.
  4. Restart Modo. The procedural operator will appear in the appropriate menu (e.g., Mesh Operations → Deform) . The direct tool is named xfrm.laplacian. Type tool.set xfrm.laplacian on on command field of command history viewport. After setup the laplacian smoothing tool, you can see Strength attribute on the tool property viewport. This supports falloff weights.

If upgrading from a previous version, make sure to remove the older version to avoid conflicts.

🧩 Compatibility & Requirements

  • Built for Modo 16.1v8 or later.
  • No special external dependencies required for end-users (unless building from source).
  • Source code available for developers who wish to extend or integrate further.
