Kelvin Sculpt Kit for Modo

$0+

Kelvin Sculpt Kit for Modo brings Pixar’s Regularized Kelvinlets (2017) deformation model directly into Modo as an intuitive sculpting toolset.
Based on the research paper “Regularized Kelvinlets: Sculpting Brushes Based on Fundamental Solutions of Elasticity” by de Goes and James (Pixar Animation Studios), this kit provides smooth, physically-inspired surface deformations ideal for modeling, concept sculpting, and character work.

By applying Kelvinlet-based displacement fields, the kit enables real-time brush interactions that feel soft, elastic, and predictable—without requiring simulation or complex rigging. You can grab, twist, pinch, or scale geometry with stable falloff behavior and clean deformation results.

🔩 Tool Properties

Brush Type

Regularized kelvinlets can further be extended by replacing the vector-based load distribution with a matrix-based distribution to achieve non-affine transformations like Twist, Pinch, and Scale.

Brush Radius, Falloff

The brush size specifies the size at which the displacement is concentrated. You can adjust the falloff rate of the displacement by changing the Falloff.

Start Position, Offset

Start Position is the start position of the brush. Offset is the offset of the brush. The offset is the distance from the start position to the center of the brush.

📥 Installation & Use

  1. Click the Download button (enter $0 for free or choose optional tip)
  2. Download the LPK file
  3. Drag & drop into any Modo viewport
  4. Restart Modo → Plugin appears under Deform menu or Mesh Operator panel

🔄 If upgrading from an earlier version, please uninstall the old version first.

🧩 Compatibility & Requirements

  • Tested with Modo 16.1v8 or later (adjust as applicable)
  • For developers: full source code and build instructions available on GitHub
